Committed to Naugatuck Youth and Families

Keeping all of Naugatuck's young people healthy, resilient, and awesome.

Programs

Naugatuck Youth Services, Inc. offers programming to many different ages with an emphasis on middle and high school. Most of our programs are seasonal depending on weather and need.

Game Night

Typically on the last Friday of the month, targeted to middle and high school students. Game night provides an open time for youth to participate in structured and unstructured board and video games. Held from 6-8, includes a communal-style dinner.

Youth4Change

Group of high school students concerned about activism and bettering their community. Meets Thursday after school from 2:30-5pm.

Summer Lounge

NYS hosts a drop-in program on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 1-5pm through the summer. Activities include video/board games, crafts, outdoor activities, cooking, and special visit activities. Open to rising 7th-12th grade students.

Youth Diversion Team (YDT)

Youth who are arrested or commit an offense to result in potential court involvement are instead given the opportunity to reflect upon their incident and offer restitution while receiving case management support from NYS.

Restorative Alternative Discipline (RAD)

Youth referred from suspension by the middle or high school for up to ten days are eligible for a reduction in those days when completing the program. Youth participate in an educational session (based on their offense), community service, and a restorative meeting with the school upon reentry.

Girls on the Run

Self-esteem and healthy life skills programming for girls in 4th-6th grade. Girls meet with coaches twice a week and complete the season with a 5k.

Knowledge Drop

Tutoring and free homework space for high school and middle school students. Meets Wednesday after school from 2:30-5pm.

Youth Employment Program (YEP)

Students can apply for this competitive program where NYS places students in worksites across the local area. Employers mentor youth while they are paid by the program. Not all applicants are guaranteed a position. Ages are from 14-24.

Mentoring

Adults and older students are trained to work one-on-one or in small groups with our youth. Guidelines and support are given on an ongoing basis to ensure productive relationships.
